Hello lenovo forums, I've purchased a new SL500 notebook with 2 gb of ram, which I extended to 4 gb. The pre-installed vista 32 I only had running once because immediately after that I installed vista 64. Since then (a few weeks ago) I re-installed it about a million times but I always have the same problem: immediately after logging in I get an ' stopped working' message. This happens about every third time I start windows and for various applications -- for example: module installer, ip helper, windows update, task scheduler (engine), wmi provider host, windows explorer, windows defender user interface, windows host process (rundll32), microsoft windows search indexer, microsoft sync center, spooler subsystem app, thinkvantage scheduler, run once wrapper, windows installer, desktop window manager, windows package manager, cryptographic services.
I tried a couple of different things: I installed vista 64 as well as vista 64 sp1 -- (manual installation of sp1 failed by the way). Once I installed all windows updates before the lenovo drivers, another time I did it the other way round. It doesn't seem to make any difference if I install the thinkvantage software or not. G Sonique Twisthead here. I simply cannot locate the origin of this annoying problem. Hopefully someone here can give me a hint.
Many thanks in advance!
