The last post in gave me the inspiration to dump the Omnipass software to see if Win7 could handle fingerprint logons like seems to think it can. My brand new T4410 had no such thing as 'Biometric Devices' in the Control Panel, but it was there in the Device Manager.

When it finds the new software drivers online, it will install a 33Mb file called TrueSuite. The new setup seems to be running much faster and easier than Omnipass. All it seems to do is ask for fingerprint logon at startup (which is all I ever wanted anyway). Thank you for this great information. So I restarted my tablet PC, after Windows login Windows found a new device, searched for drivers on Windows update, found the TrueSuit with 33MB downloaded it, installed it, failed. I just gave it another try and it seems as if it was installed correctly now. Registered one finger, another, another, tried to login with the finger, perfect. Thank you so much for this tip. This worked for me! It's great because 1) Omnipass was very slow for me, and 2) the Authentec driver I had installed seemed to not work very well. This driver install works PERFECTLY and is much faster than Omnipass, and not as intrusive.
