Man- am I glad to be able to experience a broadway play here at the end of summer 2017. Lucky for me - my roommate invited me out to watch Hamilton writers play 'in the heights'. I agreed and voila. 20$ general admission later, we end up with an awesome spot in the garden with a beautiful view to the theatre. There is reserved seating which is a bit more pricey but not totally bad since it's for broadway shows but I loved the general price spots as well! I fell in love with the theatre simply because it's outdoor, well maintained, and I couldn't help but admire the moon and trees surrounding the arena during the intermission.
They give you lawn chairs, but you have to remember to bring layers and blankets- it gets CHILLY! Overall though, I had a fantastic experience and will definitely be back to check out more events here.
I would highly recommend this spot for a girls night out, date nights, family outing as it is budget friendly and great for a picnic and then watch a play! I don't know why I had not stumbled upon this little gem sooner!!! The Moonlight Amphitheater is located in Brengle Terrace Park in Vista. It is a fantastic venue to watch musicals! Better than San Diego's Civic theatre in my opinion!
Because you're watching the show under the stars, seating is way more spacious, and it has a more intimate feel. Plus you get to bring in your own food!!! How awesome is that?! There is a cafe on site if you wish to dine there OR you can bring your own food and picnic before the show in the grassy area. There are 2 concession stands that sell alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages for you to enjoy as well. You can get reserved seating either in a stationary chair OR you can get lawn chairs.
They give you the lawn chairs for you to take back to your seat when you enter. My friends and I had reserved lawn seating and it was the best experience. Perfect venue for a date! However, I'm also told this venue is very family friendly. Children are welcome to partake! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. They were able to answer my questions and troubleshoot solutions for me.
I called the ticket office ahead of time to ask if they had outlets to pump, as I am still a nursing mom, who needed to enjoy mommy and daddy time without the baby. While they had no outlets in the family restroom (or any restroom), they were very accommodating and sweet to find a private office for me to pump in! Thank you so much ladies!!!
You made my night so much more enjoyable! Kudos to the staff for making it happen! The show we watched was In The Heights. Not knowing really what to expect, the show had me laughing, smiling and wanting to get up and dance! It made me nostalgic over my show choir days in high school. The vocals were spot on! The music was fantastic and the story-line was relatable, at least in part, to me.
We loved this performance so much we look forward to the next season! Pro tips: bring a blanket and a jacket (it gets cooler at night), bring snacks and water bottles, bring money for alcoholic drinks! You don't need to get there early unless you didn't get reserved seating. Absolutely loved the experience and will be looking into a season holders pass. I got the pleasure of seeing AIDA in lawn seating which is not as bad as it sounds. Free parking, and ten dollars for a lawn seat. Its a an outdoor venue but the lawn chairs are included which wowed me.
The second thing is the beers are not too overpriced, 4 or 6. The restrooms were clean, and all employees were on point. We were even seated by Ms Vista herself. The performance is top notch talent. The whole play was just about 2 hours with an intermission and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The only words of advice I would like to give is make sure you look for spiders before you sit. Saw a big black one hooked to a vacant chair after the play was over.
